Interview of Thomas Stütz

Deakins:
Welcome in the first step of the Hall of Fame of BOWS-2, Thomas! Who are you?

Thomas Stütz:
A PhD student (multimedia security).

Hale:
What are you working on nowadays (when not BOWSing)?

Thomas Stütz:
Security tools for JPEG2000, H.264 and SVC.

Deakins:
Are you connected to other soldiers involved in the BOWS-2 challenge?

Thomas Stütz:
Yes, more than one;) or more precisely 3.

Deakins;
Was it difficult to enter in the Hall of Fame?

Thomas Stütz:
Not really. A bit of endurance never hurts;)

Deakins:
You’re right Thomas! Did you use the same arrows for the three images or was it a special sharp each time?

Thomas Stütz:
Basically the same attack, but different parameters.

Hale:
Which aim was the most difficult to shoot ?

Thomas Stütz:
Actually I had my hard times with the Sheep. To reach the 20db was easy but every improvement was hard.

Deakins:
What is your opinion about the BOWS contest? Do you think it is useful?

Thomas Stütz:
Yes.

Deakins:
Have you some fun going into combat?

Thomas Stütz:
Yes, but it also has caused me sleepless nights.

Hale:
Are you completely addicted, watching the site every hour, or are you relax and confident?

Thomas Stütz:
Now, I am relaxed. I traded my attack for a team. So Salzburg does no longer compete individually but as one strong team.

Deakins:
What kind of prize would you like to get if you win the contest?

Thomas Stütz:
Definitely, a bow and some arrows. In fact beginner sets are rather affordable, so you could think of buying a couple for the teams;)

Hale:
We will consider it, we have to check if it is possible to get out one from the Marines. Last question, in your opinion, what will be the average PSNR of the winner?

Thomas Stütz:
42.
Or wait ... 23

Hale and Deakins:
Thanks Thomas!
